Hair & Lace Glossary

Every term you will meet on a Jegomo product page, explained without jargon.

Lace

HD Swiss lace
The finest lace we stock. Very thin, melts into the scalp, usually pre-plucked. Handle gently during install.
Transparent lace
Slightly thicker and stronger than HD, tinted to read as skin on light to medium tones. Easier to work with, still discreet.
13x4
A 13-inch ear-to-ear frontal with 4 inches of depth. Free parting across the front.
13x6
A 13-inch frontal with 6 inches of depth — deeper middle, side and half-up parting.
9x6 / 7x5
Wide glueless closures. Pre-cut lace, generous parting, made to wear straight out of the box.
5x5 / 4x4
Compact crown closures. Neat, durable and ideal for bobs and protective daily wear.

Density

180 density
Natural, lightweight. Best for everyday wear and shorter lengths.
200 density
Full without being heavy. Our most-chosen option from 22" upward.
250 density
Noticeably thick, holds shape well, strong on camera.
300 density
Maximum volume, mostly used for curly, kinky and afro textures.

Cap & construction

Glueless
Pre-cut lace worn with adjustable straps and combs where fitted — no adhesive required.
Glue-in
Uncut lace installed with adhesive for a longer-wear, flush hairline.
Pre-plucked
The hairline has been thinned by hand so it reads as a natural density instead of a blunt line.
Adjustable band
Elastic straps inside the cap that tighten the fit, commonly across a 21.5"–25" range.

Texture

Bone straight
Sleek, flat, no wave. Shows length clearly.
Water wave
Soft, loose S-wave that revives with water and leave-in.
Deep wave
Tighter, deeper wave pattern with more visible volume.
Kinky curly
Tight coil pattern that mirrors natural 4-type texture.
Kinky straight
Yaki-style straight with a blown-out natural texture, blends with relaxed hair.

Common questions

What is the difference between HD Swiss lace and transparent lace?+

HD Swiss lace is a finer, thinner lace that melts more closely into the scalp and is usually used for pre-plucked hairlines. Transparent lace is slightly thicker and more durable, and reads well on light to medium skin tones. HD lace looks more invisible; transparent lace is more forgiving to install.

What density should I choose?+

180% density gives a natural everyday look, 200% is fuller and the most popular for longer lengths, 250% is dramatic and photographs beautifully, and 300% is maximum volume — usually chosen for curly and afro-textured styles. Longer lengths generally need at least 200% so the ends do not look thin.

What is the difference between 13x4, 13x6, 7x5, 5x5 and 4x4?+

The numbers are the lace measurements in inches. 13x4 and 13x6 are ear-to-ear frontals; the 6 gives deeper parting space. 7x5, 5x5 and 4x4 are closures — smaller lace areas that sit at the crown, part in fewer directions, and are typically the glueless wear-and-go options.

Can I wear a glueless wig without glue?+

Yes. Our glueless pieces are pre-cut and secured with adjustable straps and combs where fitted, so they can be worn without adhesive. Glue is optional if you want a longer-term install or extra security on a windy day.
